Yesterday I had an intense but short practice. It lasted only 45 minutes. As I walked out of the gym, I felt really satisfied and happy. I had a flashback about the time when I spent endless hours in the globo gym, doing whatever I could, just to spend more energy and hoping that someday I will get the body I want. Then I got back to the present moment and I was thinking about the difference between working out to burn calories and working out for performance.
When you workout in order to burn more calories…
You go in the gym with just one goal- to burn as many calories as possible.
You do not care exactly what you are doing, if it is right or wrong and what are the consequences, as long as you keep up with your goal to spend energy.
You waste way too much time in the gym and usually the feeling after workout is one of exhaustion and soreness.
The rule in this case is to workout according to the amount of food you eat or in other words, the only purpose of your workout is to burn the calories, you’ve eaten…so later that night when you are solving the equation, the calories you ate minus the calories you burned will be equal to a negative number!
More often than not, you are never getting the results you aim for and this only discourages you! As a consequence you either quit or start working out even more and thus you lower your chances for success to exactly zero per cent!
Your workouts are all the same and boring. You can’t wait for the workout to finish and then go back home.
Because of your goal to spend as much time working out as possible in order to burn maximum calories, you are always staring the clock, in order to see if you completed the time you set before you walked in the gym!
When you workout for performance…
You go to the gym and your goal is to challenge yourself, try to add more plates on the bar, complete one more round then you did the last time, learn how to do handstands and later on improve to handstand push ups, to learn a new movement and master its technique and so on…
The goals you set have no end, because there is always something new to be learned.
You focus on the technique and you don’t let yourself compromise on it!
Your workouts are always fun and variable! They are a combination of the unexpected, emotions, intensity, technique and strong will, which is guarantee that you won’t lose motivation.
Unlike the workouts aiming to burn calories, in this case you can’t wait to go to workout and you wish workouts never end!
You don’t stare at the clock every five minutes, because you do not care how long is the workout, all that matters is how you use your time and the quality of the workout!
More often than not you get the results you want, which only motivates you to keep working out!
Here the rule is that you eat according to your workouts. In other words when you have harder workouts, you will eat more. When you workout less, and you don’t need to eat that much, you will eat less!
The best thing is that besides improving your performance, you also get the desired sexy body!
Which one would you pick?
Which one would you pick? I have been the one working out to burn as much calories as possible, and I will assure you that the feeling ain’t good! Today I enjoy working out for performance and the feeling is incredible! I wish everyone of you to feel the way I did when I left the gym…
