I bet that most of you want to lose weight, get their butt and thighs tighter or probably have defined abs. On a daily basis we declare  how we really want something, but yet not many people manage to achieve their goals! Why does it turn out like this?

In order to understand it, we need to ask the question “What is needed in order for one desire to become reality?

1.You need to have the desire to achieve a particular goal

2.You need to know what you are supposed to do, in order to achieve that goal

3.You need to be willing to execute the actions from point number 2

4.You need the will, to stick to that behavior long enough, to be persistent enough, so you could on a daily basis, do what you are supposed to do, to achieve your goal.

I think that the place where most people fail is point number 4 – “the will, to stick to that behavior long enough, to be persistent enough, so you could on a daily basis, do what you are supposed to do, to achieve your goal.”

How does that refer to workouts and nutrition?

A lot of people have the desire to be in shape!

A lot of people know that in order to be in shape they need to eat good food and work out.

A lot of people have the desire to eat good food and work out!

But how many people manage to stick to that behavior long enough, to actually get the desired results?

Not many!

Most people follow a nutrition plan for a couple days and then they decide that they can’t resist the temptation of eating sweets and they just ditch everything!

And wouldn’t it be better if you are not so extreme? Eat good! Then, when something tempts you and you “cheat” on your nutrition, just get back on track the next day. Thus with time, you will notice the difference between eating good food and eating junk food. You will feel so much better when you eat healthy, you will notice how you are getting closer to your goal and how healthy eating turned into a lifestyle and not just a torture or deprivation!

Let me ask you, what would you do if you spend a whole month studying for an important exams, but you still fail it? Would you quit and just give up on studying, just because you failed once? I doubt it! What you are probably gonna do is that you will just study more for the next exam and you will finally pass it!

It is the same with nutrition! You just need to be persistent! You are gonna stumble every now and then, but this is not a reason to quit!

What about workouts?

You are motivated during the first month, and then your motivation gradually disappears. You skip one workout, then another and one day you just stop working out and you are left with the desire to be fit, but with the regret that you can’t!

And that is not true! Everybody can be fit! You are just interfering with your own progress! You look through pictures of fitness models and you fool yourself that if you work out for a month, tomorrow you will wake up, looking like them! But this is not true. Have you ever given it a thought, how much hard work, will and persistence, the fitness models show on a  daily basis, in order to look the way they do today?

People are strange… we look up to successful people and admire their achievements, but yet we are constantly complaining how something is always on our way, interfering with our achievements! But we do not realize that these people, the once we look up to with admiration, probably got through a lot harder moments, than we could ever suppose… but they just knew what they wanted, how they could achieve it and they had the desire to execute what is needed, they sticked long enough to that behavior, which built their personality, appearance and character!

You think that it is hard to follow a nutrition plan every single day and work out 3-4 times a week…

But it isn’t! Not at all! One hour workout is about 4% of your day. And you are trying to tell me that you can’t ration your time, in a way that will let you spend 4 times a week, 4% of your day in the gym?

Healthy eating doesn’t take that much time. It is just about making the right food choices! It is not that hard to eat healthy! It is hard to get over the limitations you set. It is hard to substitute your old habits, with new once… because it takes a conscious choice and conscious work… and we are used to acting mechanically, like robots… just mechanic reactions, that free us from the responsibility to consciously be in charge of our behavior.

Eating healthy is not hard! You just have to pick the baked chicken, not the fried chicken; the fresh fruits, not the cake; the fresh vegetables, not the fried zucchini… Just writing this, makes me realize how unhealthy eating takes more time, than healthy eating!

In order to achieve your goals, you need to realize that it is not hard, as long as you make conscious choices in every single moment! Sometimes you are gonna stumble, you will feel discouraged and disappointed, but what should keep you motivated is THE GOAL!

When a person knows why he is doing something, he can’t slip, give up or give in! Because the goal is always in his mind and it is always a resource of motivation!

And the last thing you need is faith- faith in yourself! Because you can!

No matter how long it takes you, you can! If you need support, even if I do not know you personally, keep in mind that I believe in you! I believe in everybody who knows what he wants, who is motivated enough to never give up, until he reaches his goal!

Keep in mind that when other people judge you for not eating the piece of cake, you have my support!

When others judge you for going to the gym, instead of going to a party, you have my support!

Keep in mind that when nobody understands you, you have my support!

What is your decision? Are you gonna be persistent and chase your dreams?
