People often ask “What should I eat for breakfast?”. Usually this is asked for the morning breakfast, as well as for the afternoon breakfast. In this post, I shared my opinion on the morning breakfast(Carbs for breakfast! BIG mistake!( read HERE), and today I will emphasize on the afternoon breakfast!
I just want to mention, that I tried to find some data, about where does the notion about eating sweets for breakfast come from. Unfortunately I didn’t find an authentic information. But I still have some hypothesis, and some of them are as follows:
-the confusing information when it comes to what is healthy and what isn’t. A lot of people start their morning with some kind of cereal and they think this is the best thing they are doing for their health, but in reality they are far from the truth!
-the theory that carbs should be eaten during the first half of the day, and later on they should be limited. This might be one of the reasons, so many people eat sweet, sugary stuff for breakfast, with the idea that they better eat the high carb foods first thing in the morning!
These are just the hypothesis that come up to my mind, but I am sure that if I give it more thought, I will think of more reasons, but as I already said today we are gonna talk about something else!
What does an afternoon breakfast mean?
The confusion about what you are supposed to eat, comes from the wrong understanding about afternoon breakfast. An afternoon breakfast isn’t some kind of a special meal, which should fit in all kind of theories. An afternoon breakfast is just another meal, which you add between your main meals, in case you feel the need to eat, before it is dinner time.
Let’s say you had lunch around 12 and you have a date for dinner around 7:30p.m. But around 4:00p.m. you start feeling hungry. If you eat your dinner meal, probably you won’t eat at the date and you don’t like this to happen, so you should eat something now. And here comes the confusion! What are you supposed to eat?
Well, that’s a piece of cake! The afternoon meal is just the same as your other meals! If you have successfully transitioned to making food part of your lifestyle and not an occasion for celebration, probably you are aware how a balanced meal looks like. That means that your afternoon breakfast won’t be much different than your morning breakfast, your lunch or your dinner. The only difference would be the quantity!
For example I eat 3 times day. ( read here “The Truth about The Change in My Nutrition”)
Sure, everything comes up to distributing your meals, so they match your lifestyle and physical activity!
Personally I would recommend you to stay away from afternoon breakfasts like “one apple”; “one yogurt” and etc. Make sure that every one of your meals is balanced- it should contain protein, healthy fats and carbs (mainly veggies).
And if I still have to share with you, what is my favorite afternoon snack, it would be this:
Here is the recipe for the delicious eggs from the picture above (check it HERE)!
