It’s morning. It is hot outside. You open your wardrobe and reach to take your summer clothes, but suddenly you feel like you forgot something- to weigh yourself on the scale. Did you forget that the scale, THIS OBJECT is your best friend and best advisor about the way you look? The scale is the one that “tells” you if you are beautiful, successful and worthy.

…you leave the door of your wardrobe open and go to check what the scale “thinks” about you today. There you are, 500 grams heavier than yesterday. In just a few seconds the good mood and happiness you had before that is displaced by sad and depressive thoughts. Seems like your self-esteem lowered in seconds. One moment you were feeling happy and energetic to face the new day, and suddenly darkness takes over your soul. And why is that? Because of a number on the scale!

If there is a woman who says that she has never felt this way, at least once in her life, I am sure that she is lying! How often does the number on the scale affect your emotions, feelings and mood? How often does the number on the scale predestines if you are gonna dress with a short skirt or the long and baggy jeans, in order to hide your insecurity and lack of self-esteem?

I don’t encourage people to be content with being overweight. I don’t encourage people to eat junk food and harm their health. I don’t encourage people to stay physically inactive all day long. But more often than not, I meet people who look absolutely gorgeous, but people who lost themselves in chasing some kind of an ideal- ideal for kilograms, measurements, size of clothes and so forth. People who define themselves and their worth according to the size of their pants!

How the fact that you wear size 2,8 or 10 could be a measure of the person you are? How the number on the scale could kill your desire to live, or give it back to you?

What makes you think that if tomorrow you wake up 5 kilograms lighter, you will feel happier? The scale will show 65 kilograms, instead of 70kg and your life will become better and more profound? Is that what you are trying to tell me? I know a lot of girls, who are far from “the perfect” measurements”, but they are still happy. Their life is full of sense, because they do not lose themselves in numbers, but in things that really make a difference. They love, what they do and achieve success in their career and personal life. This gives them better self-esteem and no matter if the scale shows 1kg more or less, every morning they open the wardrobe and dress with what they like! The self-esteem that emanates from them, puts a shadow on their body defects.

I know women, who have the perfect body, but not in their own eyes. They always want to be thinner, lighter, wear a smaller size, eat less… be less. Instead of living life to its fullest, wearing their beautiful summer clothes, go out with friends and strive for success in their career, they are constantly lowering their self-esteem and confidence. They lose themselves and their dreams.

Truth is that your body is transitory. Today you look fit and tomorrow something happens, and it turns your life upside down. For a moment you lose everything you’ve accomplished, but later on you get yourself together again. Everything changes… your life… you… your body. Today you won’t dress with your summer clothes, because you think that you are not beautiful enough for them… tomorrow you won’t dress with your summer clothes, because you will hate the way you look, twice more than you used to hate yourself yesterday… the years roll  and one day you are 45. You spend half of your life hiding behind the baggy clothes. 45 years…spend, drowning in insecurity, denial, hate and the chase of an ideal.

You wake up and you realize that you somehow missed enjoying life, by focusing on details in your life, that only sucked your strength and energy….

One day, you wake up and you are 60. You realize that you would give anything to be 20 again and wear your short skirts, tank tops and walk around in your swim suit…

You wake up, realizing that you had everything you needed in order to live your life at the fullest, but it somehow slipped in front of your eyes… because you were blinded by the number on the scale and the size of your clothes…

I found your site yesturday and I have to say I LOVE it! It’s so informative and I can read your articles all day.
I recently lost 49 pounds and now weigh 163 pounds, I felt that I wanted to be 140 pounds and I was starting to be a slave to the scale. I am giving up on weighing myself for now and I am going to continue working out and bettering myself. I don’t care what number it says anymore. 🙂 Thanks for this!
