Did you really think I am starving? No way! 😉

Starving… probably this theme is already lame, but I still see a lot of people, starving themselves, when they are trying to lose weight.

When I say starving yourself, I am not talking about the so popular intermittent fasting. The difference between starving yourself and being an intermittent faster, where you alternate periods of not eating, with periods of eating, is huge! Intermittent fasting could help you reach your goals, it could become a lifestyle and it could make you feel better, and even though I don’t like it, I do not deny it!

This week emotional eating is once again on my mind, but not because I am back to filling my emotional emptiness with food, but because I met a person, who really reminds me of myself in the past- the past where I buried my emotions under piles of food.

This person made me think why we, people find it so hard to start eating healthy. You know what I am talking about. Every night you go to bed determined to start eating clean tomorrow and have a healthier lifestyle. Then, you wake up in the morning filled with enthusiasm, but as the day goes by, your daily tasks take over your life and everything is as it was yesterday. Seems as if you never find the strength to change your eating habits and your lifestyle.

1.You have bad relationship with… YOURSELF

Yes, you understood me! As lame as this may sound, if you don’t like yourself and if you can’t stand the person you are, you are hardly ever gonna achieve what you want! If you give it a thought, I doubt it that you even know exactly what you want, because you always find something you don’t like about yourself and you are never content with who you are. Nowadays emotional eating is a big problem. As you know from one of my last posts, I struggled with emotional eating for a long time. It definitely interfered with my progress and my body composition goals. After all, nutrition plays a big role, when you aim for a fit and healthy body. If every time when something disappoints you, you redirect the negativity towards yourself, trying to avoid your problems, by eating, no matter how much you train, the results want be satisfying!

Start loving yourself! You have absolutely no idea what a wonderful feeling that can be! Look yourself in the mirror and love what you see! Even if you don’t look exactly the way you want to, tell yourself “Well, I have some cellulite but with my new eating habits and my intense workouts, it will be gone soon!”

It seems like pure madness, but the more positive thoughts you have about yourself, the better you are gonna feel and the more you will use food for fuel and not to fill emotional emptiness!

A couple nights ago, I was out with some friends for a dinner. As usually we couldn’t spend a night without talking about the way I eat, and how many eggs a day I eat. Everybody is always surprised, how I am still alive, if for the last 2-3 years I eat about 5-8 eggs a day! A real miracle, I guess! 😉 (read here)

This time everybody was interested in my breakfast of eggs, butter and veggies. I have a lot of friends, who claim they eat healthy and of course they never miss the oats for breakfast. I already shared my opinion about grains here, and today I want to share my opinion about eating carbs for breakfast.

Not that I am always trying to have  the opposite opinion, but it just somehow comes from within! 🙂 With years, you’ve been told how most carbs should be eaten in the morning and the more the day goes by, the less carbs you should eat. Do I agree with that? Obviously, NO!

I have the opportunity to communicate with a lot of people, who contact me through e-mail or with a message on Facebook. Yesterday I received an interesting message, where a reader asked me how I eat on a non training day! I think that there might be a lot of people interested in this and I haven’t mentioned anything about it on my blog.

First of all, I want to tell you, that before I “arrived” to today, when my nutrition is a lifestyle and not something that I constantly think about and not something I waste a lot of energy on, I went through a long, long way!

Before that I’ve experimented with a lot of diets and nutrition methods- I counted calories, I measured every single bite, I calculated fats, carbs and proteins to the last percentage!

Probably most of you wonder how they are supposed to eat on non training days, because you’ve read countless articles with controversial opinions.

Back in the days I also stressed a lot on how was I supposed to eat on non training days. There were periods when I ate just proteins, periods when once in the week I allowed myself a cheat meal and it was always on non training days, because all the junk I ate made me sick and tired, and there was absolutely no way I could train feeling so crappy!

Fortunately all of this is left in the past and honestly I don’t regret making all these mistakes, because I learned a lot from them. Sometimes a person needs to experience himself what doesn’t work, in order to find out what actually works!

When I started going to the Globo gym, the picture that popped up in my mind when somebody mentioned the word “fitness”, were countless cardio machines and people, exhaustively running on the treadmill.

I was the regular follower of the myth that if you want to lose weight, cardio is the best solution!

I lost a lot of time, but besides the countless hours spent in the gym, I didn’t achieve anything!

For the past 6-7 months, I’ve been working out with a client, who has a tremendous progress. He is constantly beating his PRs and he is about to get rid of the unwanted fat. Last week I praised him for his consistency and I decided to ask how was he dealing with his nutrition changes. If it is getting easier to eat clean or if he is still finding it challenging. Then he smiled and said “ I work out, so I can eat more!” It is unnecessary to say that deep inside I felt disappointed. On a daily basis I am trying with my personal example and the example of others, to teach people, how the change in your workouts and lifestyle, isn’t about being able to eat more.

We do not work out with higher intensity, so we can eat more!

We do not lift heavier weights, so we can eat more!

PCOS: What is The Root Cause of It and What Could be The Treatment?

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCO) are ovaries which contain an excessive number of primordial follicles. These follicles are tiny fluid-filled sacs which contain the eggs.  Below is a list that shows if the number of the follicles in your ovaries are in the normal range or if they are surpassing it thus giving a sign for some problems.

Normal: less than or equal to 12 follicles
Borderline: 13-15 follicles
Mild: 16-30 follicles
Moderate: 30-50 follicles
Severe: more than 50 follicles, as a general guide – these women usually have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), associated with infertility, increased facial hair, and a disturbance of hormone levels.

In a normal menstrual cycle there are usually 5-10 follicles at the beginning of the cycle. Later in the cycle usually around day 14, one follicle gets bigger  and shortly thereafter ovulation takes place with release of the egg. The remaining eggs regress and disappear before the next cycle. These events typically occur every 4 weeks and result in the monthly menstrual bleed.
