Isn’t all that heavy lifting gonna make you big and bulky?

I will never get tired of repeating that lifting weights do not make women big and bulky! Actually exactly the opposite! I have never enjoyed so much attention from man, as I do now when I deadlift 220 pounds and squat with 176 pounds.

Because I do not wanna bore you and repeat the same thing, read these articles (1,2,3) if you still have some hesitations, and you will get it clear why weights do not make you big and bulky!

Actually, the truth is that if somebody tells you that you are “too strong” or “too muscular” for a woman, that is just a sign that this person has low self-esteem and deep inside he is fighting with some controversy and doubts. It is said that when somebody offends you, deep inside this person does not respect himself and probably this is the case!

Real men will never tell you that you are too muscular, because they take care of their own bodies. They are strong and athletic and they could only admire your appearance and what you are doing!

Take a second and give it a thought! When a handsome, muscular, strong man in the gym, asked you why you are doing deadlifts with 220 pounds? That has never happened to me! Actually they encourage me to put more weights. They always tell me that I am capable of more and that all limitations are in my head!

Those are the kind of people you want to surround yourself with! Those that have faith in you and those that never try to project their insecurities into your own insecurity! Be confident and do not let weak minded people, with low self-esteem interfere with your progress and take you away from the right path!

How could you do deadlifts? You will hurt your back!

Tell you the truth before I started lifting weights I had a lot of low back pain! When I used to play basketball, I was just 18 years old and there wasn’t a day that I didn’t take painkillers. At times I was walking on the street and the pain was so disturbing, that I wondered how is it possible to feel this way at 18!

I am grateful for the day that I walked into the weightlifting room. I have never felt so strong, healthy and I have never felt my body so capable. Even though you can’t realize it now, your pain isn’t due to some serious injury, but more likely it is due to your weak muscles and imbalances!

Deadlifts can be dangerous ONLY when you perform them with bad technique! If you learn the right technique, the only thing you will get are the POSITIVES! I do not say it, because I love doing deadlifts! If you want to convince yourself further, read the interviews with Nia Shanks, Marianne Kane, Molly Galbraith, Marina Dekova and you will notice the weights they lift and how good they feel, and not to mention how stunning they look!

Don’t you worry that if you stop lifting weights, your muscles will turn into fat?

Do you want me to tell you the truth? NO! I haven’t even thought about it! First, because muscles and fat are something different and the one does not transform into the other! Just because usually when you decrease your body fat level, you increase your muscle mass, doesn’t mean that the one transforms into the other!

And second I do not intend on abandoning the weights! Probably I won’t be capable of training with such intensity for my entire life, but I am sure that to the last day on Earth I will train and I will give my best, no matter what my best looks like!

The reason that most people become fatter when they stop working out is not that their muscles turned into fat but just the fact that usually quitting the workouts is accompanied by a change in the nutrition- people start eating more junk food and in bigger quantities, and that itself is a reason to pack on fat! The muscles disappear just because you are not doing anything to stimulate their growth or maintenance.

So if you are worried, I assure you that your muscles won’t turn into fat when you stop working out. And I think that ,when you taste the feeling of lifting weights, being fit and feeling great in your body,  you will never ever think of abandoning weights!
