It is the season of vacations and a lot of people spend this month on the road. Unfortunately most of them use this as an excuse to ditch their healthy habits and give in to unhealthy eating and being lazy.
This reminded me of last year, when I was invited to participate in a seminar about PR& Lobbying, in Brussels. There are a lot of people who can’t stand one trait in my character- I have pretty clear build priorities and values and I NEVER compromise with my beliefs! That is why I decided, that even if I had to spend a week at the seminar, I wouldn’t allow myself to sit in a chair all day long, trying different local meals and tasting all the chocolate temptations in Brussels.
That is why today I am gonna tell you what I did, so I don’t cheat on my healthy lifestyle and I will give you a couple ideas how to work out and eat healthy in the hotel room!
1)First I checked the hotel that they reserved for me from the seminar. I found out there was no fridge! Problem number one! Solution found!
2)I checked the forecast for the next week in Brussels. I found out it was gonna be pretty cold, so that meant I could take healthy food from Bulgaria and keep it on the balcony(which I found out was missing haha so I keep it on the outside of my window).
3) I cooked my stakes, my fish and packed them in boxes!
4) I prayed there is not gonna be problems at the airport. And fortunately everything was just fine, so when I got to Brussels and got my luggage, my fuel(my food) for the seminar was there with me.
5) I went to the shop and bought lots of vegetables, fruits and water. You would think couldn’t you buy your meat and fish there too. Yes, I certaintly could have done it, but I do not have much time, and I do not have anywhere to cook, so I had to buy some packed food, and I hate the thought of being left without healthy food!
6) I enjoyed healthy food.
So everything with the food was just fine…what about workouts. Well when you think about a person that goes to a foreign country with half of my bag full of food would you expect me to skip workouts? Sure I did not!
I just woke up earlier before the seminar starts. I put on my workout clothes. Then I thought for a workout I could possibly do in my room, that was not more than 3square meters, and I got busy working out. For example I did:
50 burpees, 50 squats with 10l. water bottle, 1min plank
40 burpees, 40 squats with 10l. water bottle, 1min plank
30 burpees, 30 squats with 10l. water bottle, 1min plank
20 burpees, 20 squats with 10l. water bottle, 1min plank
10 burpees, 10 squats with 10l. water bottle, 1min plank

3rounds:
25 jumping squats
20 inclined pushups (with legs on the bed or you could do handstand pushups)
10 inverted rows(on the desk, you could put your legs on the bed or on a chair)
15 V-ups
***
Of course no matter where you are, you could always do Tabata. Check here for more ideas.

3 rounds:
10 jumping lunges
5 burpees
10 inverted rows
15 swings( with bigger water bottle)
10 jumping lunges
***
15minutes max rounds:
2 thrusters (with heavier water bottle)
5 pushups
10 renegade rows( with water bottles)
15 swings
Increase the thrusters with two every round, the rest stays the same!

There are so many things you could do. And a heavier bottle of water could do wonders for you!
Don’t forget that you are on a vacation for a week or up to 10 days and you do not need to follow a structured program. But you do need to take care of yourself and stay away from old, unhealthy habits!
In case you could work out outside, try this.
And as far as it comes to food, I know that my option is not the best, because it is hot during this time of the year. But in most hotels you could have eggs, ham, veggies and butter for breakfast.
For the rest of the day you have a couple options. If you have the opportunity to cook your food, buy something healthy and prepare it yourself.
You could eat outside, but you could still order healthy food. Who said that when you go to the restaurant you are supposed to eat fried chicken and fries? Order fish or a steak with some veggies!
And the other option is to buy something baked(steak, chicken) from the supermarket. I know it is not the best option, but it is way better than hamburgers or pizza!
There are so many options for workouts and good food. The excuses “there wasn’t anywhere to eat healthy or work out” and “I didn’t have time”, are for those of you who think they want to be fit and healthy, but in reality they are still not ready to be fit and healthy!
Did you go on a vacation? Did you work out there and did you eat healthy?
