A lot of people ask me “How do I start eating healthy?”.There are a lot of answers to this question, but as most people find it hard to make radical changes and get rid of the bad habits I have an idea! What about start with your breakfast? What do you have for breakfast now? Wait a second! Let me guess! Probably you are either not having breakfast or you are eating donuts,muesli, muffins or something like that!
First of all let me remind you that food is fuel! When your first meal of the day, consists of real, nutritious food, then your body gets what it needs, in order for you to start the day feeling energetic, positive and keep on eating healthy throughout the day!
In order to keep going with my explanation I want to get something straight! Breakfast is the same as every other meal! Since we are kids, we get the idea that breakfast is some kind of super delicious, fancy and tempting meal, that you can not eat as some of your other meals.
When I tell somebody that I eat eggs or meat for breakfast, I get the weird look and a reaction like “ How could you have eggs and meat for breakfast?”. Ok, that is the first key point in understanding healthy eating. If the night before you had meat with veggies and butter, and then you have the same thing in the morning- well that means you are eating right!
In order for a meal to be nutritious it has to contain proteins (eggs,meat,fish), carbs(veggies and fruits in reasonable amounts), good fats (butter, avocado, olives). These are the rules for every meal, including your breakfast! That means you must forget about eating croissants, donuts, muesli and other sugar in different forms!
Eggs for breakfast? Yummy! Meat for breakfast? Sounds delicious!
How to have a healthy breakfast?
And here is a quick tip how to prepare a good breakfast:
1.Make sure you always have eggs in the fridge!
2.When you wake up, put a frying pan on the stove and put some butter. Add the veggies( peppers, mushrooms,tomatoes, broccoli or whatever veggies you have). When they start baking,stewing, add 2,3,4 eggs, depending on how you plan your meals throughout the day!
3.Stir the eggs, till they are ready. And there you have delicious breakfast!
You do not have time to cook in the morning?
The steps I described above don’t take more than 10minutes and you do not need to be standing above the pan the whole time. Leave the veggies to cook and prepare yourself for the day. Then you need just two minutes to prepare the eggs.
That means, this excuse does not work! Try another one! 😉
You don’t feel like eating in the morning?
I know that not everybody feels hungry in the morning like I do. Some people need some time after they wake up. That’s fine. This is not a green light to go out and stop at the first fast food restaurant to grab some junk! Prepare the breakfast as described above. Just grab some tuppaware and store your food for later when you need it!
