Why do you work out and eat healthy? Let me guess? You want to get rid of some weight! That is the ultimate goal- to shred some pounds!

Let me tell you something. Working out, lifting weights, sprinting, jumping, pushing, pulling, all these activities aren’t meant to just make you fit in smaller clothes! They are meant to help you build a body that matters! What does that mean?

A body that will be a save temple for your soul to flourish inside!

A body that will be healthy and capable of serving you throughout your life!

A body that will be a reflection of your inner peace!

A body that will show balance!

A body that will show you care- that you care enough for yourself and what you have!

A body that won’t be a prison of your bubbly personality!

A body that won’t interfere with your desire to act, to accomplish and to become!

A body that won’t be the obstacle on your way to your dreams!

A body that will be showing your confidence, your happiness and determination!

A body that you are gonna be proud of!

A couple years ago I used to go to the gym and spend countless hours just doing stuff. If you asked me why I do a particular exrcise I couldn’t give you a different answer from “Well I am trying to tone. I am trying to get tighter legs, tighter abs…” I didn’t care if something hurt. I just worked over the pain. After all I am there to lose pounds, remember?

I used to go working out and I always avoided doing exercises I am not good at.

Push ups? Why bother doing them. My shoulders are weak, I better do something I am good at!

Pull ups? That is mission impossible!

Deadlift? No, thanks! I’d rather stay 10 more minutes on the elliptical!

And so forth…

Today I go to the gym and I have a plan. I know in advance what I am going to do,no matter if I like it or not. I am doing pull ups not because I started loving them, but because they help my lats become stronger and help me improve my posture!

I am doing deadlifts, not because they make my hamstrings look glamorous, but because they help me keep the balance between my anterior and posterior chain, so I can have a neutral body alignment that wouldn’t make my lower back hurt!

I take the time to stretch, not because I like it, but because I know that tight muscles, lead to pain and muscle imbalances!

I do stabilization exercises, not because they are a lot of fun. Actually I find them pretty annoying! But I know they make my core stronger, they prevent my back from hurting and make my soul feel good in my body!

I could keep on going, telling you how and why I work out this way. But the conclusion is that today my workouts don’t have the one and only goal to make my butt tighter, to prevent my thighs from jiggling and etc. Yes I enjoy looking good, having defined muscles, but most of all I enjoy being healthy and pain free!

Today when something hurts, I know that there is probably some kind of imbalance between my muscles. I analyze myself, my body and find where my weakness is. Then I use my workouts as a tool to help me make my weakness, my strength… to help me cure my pain.

You should give it a thought! Do your workouts build a body that matters? A body that is healthy and serves you in your favor? Or are you just doing stuff just to waste some energy and spend more calories?

It is hard to realize how much good things you could do for your body, your soul and your life with a well structured workout plan, but it is worth the time and effort!

Keep in mind that a happy soul, lives in a healthy body!

If you are constantly feeling some pain and discomfort, if you walk with your shoulders down, if you walk stooped, then you are just suffering, you are showing insecurity and pain.

A strong and balanced body, reflects inner harmony, confidence and health!
