Most people’s problem is that they always search for a reason why things won’t work out! As if we are trying to convince ourselves how hard and impossible it is! And if we succeed in something depends on us! If we are happy or miserable, depends on the way we see life. As it is said the quantity of the work, needed for you to be happy or miserable is exactly the same, it is up to you to choose where you will put the effort!

There are people who stare at night and see the darkness… and there are those that stare at night and admire the stars! It is a matter of where you are gonna look- up or down…

If you read my blog, you know how much I insist on working out for the lower body! Some time ago I wrote an article about the Chicken Legs Syndrome, which is a really “dangerous disease”. 😉

If you have been training for a while, I hope that you already incorporate squats and deadlifts in your training program and I do not need to remind you of their importance for a strong and healthy body!

Today I want to focus on unilateral exercises for the lower body ( or in other words single leg work). For the past 6 months, single leg work is a big part of my training program and I think that this has helped a lot for my progress.

More often than not, people neglect single leg work, first because these exercises are not so popular and  second, because they are a little more challenging, because they require a lot more balance and coordination.

Let me first share the positive sides of single leg work and then I will explain you how I incorporate them in my workouts and which single leg exercises are on my top list!

How to Avoid Over Training?

I often write articles about how you are supposed to train and how you shouldn’t give in to being lazy. But I rarely mention something about when you are supposed to back off and take a rest!

As I’ve mentioned before, I have a pretty rich experience, when it comes to training mistakes! I had periods in my past, when I trained every single day, without taking a day off for months! It is not necessary to mention that I never got satisfying results, doing this-  neither with my appearance, nor with the functionality of my body!

I remember, when I started practicing swimming, We trained twice a day, and we had workouts every day- Monday, through Saturday and Sunday was supposed to be a rest day… but not for me- I used to go to the gym!

Nowadays this sounds absurd, but it is a fact- I’ve done it and I notice that a lot of people, who work out make the same mistake!

Sometimes this is a result of the big desire to achieve our goal, accompanied with not enough information on how to actually do it the right way!

More doesn’t always mean better, and in this case this is a fact!

With time, I found out that if I keep on working out for longer periods, every single day, with big intensity, exhausting my body during every training session, I (more…)

The other day I was arguing with a person I really love, but a person that has exactly the opposite opinion when it comes to training! He was claiming that if a person wants to lose weight, he/she can’t achieve it with heavy weights and that he/she has to do aerobic exercises.( right there I sneezed) Not that I was sick, I am just allergic to that statement! 😉

It is the season of vacations and a lot of people spend this month on the road. Unfortunately most of them use this as an excuse to ditch their healthy habits and give in to unhealthy eating and being lazy.

This reminded me of last year, when I was invited to participate in a seminar about PR& Lobbying, in Brussels. There are a lot of people who can’t stand one trait in my character- I have  pretty clear build priorities and values and I NEVER compromise with my beliefs! That is why I decided, that even if I had to spend a week at the seminar, I wouldn’t allow myself to sit in a chair all day long, trying different local meals and tasting all the chocolate temptations in Brussels.

I have the opportunity to communicate with a lot of people, who contact me through e-mail or with a message on Facebook. Yesterday I received an interesting message, where a reader asked me how I eat on a non training day! I think that there might be a lot of people interested in this and I haven’t mentioned anything about it on my blog.

First of all, I want to tell you, that before I “arrived” to today, when my nutrition is a lifestyle and not something that I constantly think about and not something I waste a lot of energy on, I went through a long, long way!

Before that I’ve experimented with a lot of diets and nutrition methods- I counted calories, I measured every single bite, I calculated fats, carbs and proteins to the last percentage!

Probably most of you wonder how they are supposed to eat on non training days, because you’ve read countless articles with controversial opinions.

Back in the days I also stressed a lot on how was I supposed to eat on non training days. There were periods when I ate just proteins, periods when once in the week I allowed myself a cheat meal and it was always on non training days, because all the junk I ate made me sick and tired, and there was absolutely no way I could train feeling so crappy!

Fortunately all of this is left in the past and honestly I don’t regret making all these mistakes, because I learned a lot from them. Sometimes a person needs to experience himself what doesn’t work, in order to find out what actually works!

When I started going to the Globo gym, the picture that popped up in my mind when somebody mentioned the word “fitness”, were countless cardio machines and people, exhaustively running on the treadmill.

I was the regular follower of the myth that if you want to lose weight, cardio is the best solution!

I lost a lot of time, but besides the countless hours spent in the gym, I didn’t achieve anything!

The sound of your heart beating, when the desire, the passion, the determination and bravery take over your body and mind!

They failed? So, what? You are not them! You are yourself! You have unique talents, personality, experience, goals and a path to walk!

There aren’t two dreams that are alike!

They might be similar, they might have something in common, but two people’s dreams are NEVER THE SAME!

Training is rehearsal for the life itself; this is the place, where on a few square meters in the IFS you can experience each of the possible sensations- triumph, fall, disappointment, hope, will, weakness, and most of all power. The place, where in “monitoring conditions”” you can remind your body how to move correctly, how to work in your interest. Everything I have tried to achieve through IFS and the trainings is to help people bring back their consciousness, health and freedom to be who they are-without doubting.
